This is particularly true if you've lived in your current home for a number of years. Here are some suggestions that will help take the work out of your move.

When it comes to clearing out your home to move into a senior community, you're going to need all the help you can get. You may have family and friends who are willing to help, but depending on how much packing and cleaning you'll have to do, you may need additional help. Get the help you need by hiring a full-service moving company - one that includes the packing and unpacking of your boxes, furniture and personal items. Hiring full-service moving companies will allow your friends and family to focus on things like cleaning and sorting.
Don't Try to Rush
You may be in a hurry to get started on your new life, but that doesn't mean you need to rush through the process. It's okay to be anxious about your future, but you're going to need extra time to prepare for the transition. Try to give yourself enough time to sort through your home slowly. That way, you won't feel pressured into getting rid of items that you might have wanted to hang on to. Not only that, but taking it slow will ensure that you don't overlook key details about the move, such as submitting a change of address, or locating new doctors if you're moving out of the area.
Take Just What You Need

Before you begin packing, go through your home and mark the things that you plan on bringing with you. It's best to bring just the things that you know you're going to need in your new home. That way, once you're moved in to your new place, you can go over to the storage unit and pick up additional pieces as you find space for them.
