What Is a Full Open Concept Home?
An open concept, in general, is a house that offers a layout that is very open. In most open concept homes, there are very few walls separating the main rooms in the home and you can typically see the living room from the kitchen and vice-versa.
In a house that is a full open concept, the main rooms in the home are literally all together without any interior walls at all. The entire living room, kitchen, and eating area are all in the same room without any walls separating them. The bedrooms and bathrooms do have walls and are normal types of rooms.

If you are looking for a home to buy and come across one with this concept, you should understand the pros and cons with this type of layout before buying a house like this. Here are the main pros of a full open concept home:
- It's very spacious – No matter how many square feet the house is, a house like this will appear very spacious when you walk inside, and this is primarily because there are no interior walls.
- It's very open – You cannot find a house with a more open concept than this. The entire main living area of the house will be open, which is great for entertaining or for raising small children.
In addition, there are some cons to these types of homes too:
- Less privacy – While you can get privacy by going in a bedroom, there is very little privacy in the main part of the house. You will be able to see everyone who is in that room, no matter where you are standing. If you are watching TV and your teen child is cooking something, you will see and hear him or her the entire time.
- Less wall space – If you enjoy decorating your walls, you should realize that you will have fewer walls to decorate, simply because of the layout.
